THE BLONDE BRIDE: QATAR

THE BLONDE BRIDE: QATAR

From the Seoul railway station, we are going on our way to Doha by 00:50 flight, at night connecting 22nd June to 23rd June. We are in Doha at 05.05 at local time. On the way back, it lasted 10 hours and 15 minutes. We think that this is because of the wind. By the way, there is no time difference between our country and Qatar.

The weather is really hot in Qatar. Despite morning hours, it is a very hot and sweltry...

In Qatar, there are more people from India, Malaysia and the Philippines to work in the service sector than Qatar Arabs.

As time is limited we start with Souq Waqif firstly. This is the traditional Arab bazaar. A place like our Grand Bazaar.

Souq Waqif

Doha is a very quiet place. Population is very low.

In the evening, we go to the place called Pearl Qatar. A place with very luxury brands and residences; but it is very quiet and empty.

Here we find very luxurious vehicles. Although they are rich in oil, they import all their food.

There are a lot of skyscrapers; but we learn that they are all empty. We learn that they are constructing by considering the coming years and the estimated population to migrate. They are also preparing to host the World Cup.

On the 24th of June we are on our way again. On the way, we see people who are jogging along the cord. When we see women wearing sleeveless blouses, we understand that they are not very strict in this regard. Indeed, we come across a cut in the country that is both traditional dressed and modern dressed.

Then we go to the Golden Souk; The Jeweler's Bazaar. This is a small, traditional bazaar.

At 2 o'clock in the afternoon, we are heading towards the desert with Hummer. The reason for our going after lunch is that we are told that the desert looks better at these times. On the way we also see "camel warning sign". We are very pleased. We do not anticipate that it will be such a sandstorm in the desert. Everywhere is filled with sand. In our mouth we eat crispy sand. The most important feature of the desert here is that it is located next to the sea. We want to drink a cup of tea in the in the desert as in Bernardo Bertolucci's famous "The Sheltering Sky" movie. But we are drinking coke instead of tea as they only have it in our tent

Our most important route in Doha is the shopping center called Landmark, because; there is a work of electrical installations in other shopping centers. Though we do not like visiting the shopping centers, they are probably the best alternative because of the extreme hot weather. We are on our way to leave this hot but really very hot country.

Bir zamanlar TRT’de yayımlanan “Az Gittik Uz Gittik” adlı yarı çizgi film, yarı belgesel tadında bir program vardı. Hiç kaçırmadan izlerdik. Yine Jules Verne’nin kaleme aldığı macera romanı “80 Günde Devrialem”i severek okur, çizgi film uyarlamasını ilgiyle takip ederdik. Meğer tüm bunlar içimizde filizlenen dünyayı gezme aşkını...More...
